No, the FireText Administrator License is locked to that single PC. You can request a license transfer in the event that laptop is broken, or stolen. Where we would deactivate that old license and move it to your new PC within our licensing server.

I have the trial version of Firetext and I'm trying to import a .CSV file with phone numbers into the program to test it out. The .CSV file was exported directly from my point of sale machine. When I try to import the CSV file into Firetext I get the following error message: "File is not valid. Line 1 does not contain correct number of fields."

You have extra characters within your CSV file that's causing errors, these are typically generated by Microsoft Excel. If you open your CSV file within your NOTEPAD software, you will see ", you need to "Find and Replace" the " symbol with nothing. It will remove all the " symbols. You can then import your CSV file into FireText Administrator.

When wanting to transfer your license permanently, you need to let the FireText staff know so we can help transfer it onto your new computer. Please download and register the demo as a new user- help, register, 'I am a new user wanting to request the demo for the first time' and either call or email the FireText staff to let them know. This is because you do not have your COM port set correctly within your FireText Administrator / Preferences / Device Panel. Please do a forum search for your model of cell phone and follow the settings for that device.

Here is how to fix your internal license error per Firetext instructions:
PLEASE BACKUP YOUR CURRENT C:/FireText System/
1) Close all open FireText Applications.
2) Download the latest FireText Installer from www.firetext.com/FireTextSystemInstallerUpdate.exe
3) If you only want to update your "Display" uncheck within the installer options, "Administrator" and all other softwares.
4) Complete the installer, it will update your .exe files.

If you haven't already, you will need to create a FireText Template, these templates display your incoming messages. Then activate your template by selecting it within your FireText Administrator / Templates manager.

Go to My Computer -> Properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager
Disconnect the USB modem.
Right-click on each entry in Universal Serial Bus controllers and choose “uninstall”.
Restart the PC.
Re-connect the USB modem to the first USB plug. Windows will initialize the device, pay attention to all the messages it displays at the lower right bottom of your screen. It will most likely initialize the device as an USB mass storage device, a CD-ROM, etc. AND hopefully as a “Data Interface”. If it never shows the mesage for data interface you have to try the device on the next USB plug.
If Windows brings up an installation dialog for the data interface, allow it to get the drivers from the internet, but tell it to also check in \Driver\WinXP for suitable drivers (it might not find them otherwise).
If the Device Manager doesn’t list Huawei in the Modems and Ports section, you won’t be able to open a connection. Start all over with this guide :-(

am changing my phone number on the phone that I use for firetext. I have the firtext USB plug which I place my sim card in. Is the changing of my phone number going to affect firetext program in anyway?

It should not affect the software at all, I have used a different phone with firetext. You just have to remember to change the number on the screen with your templates.

The problem of Win7, Win8 and Vista is that sometimes it only recognizes Huawei devices only as mass storage device. What you need to do then is, identifying which mass torage device is the Huawei modem and then updating the driver and chosing "generic USB host controller" from the driver library. Afterwards all the other components of the Huawei modem will be recognized and Mobile Partner will detect the modem.

Here are some instructions:
Work-Around: You need another PC/Laptop and a USB Pen/Key Drive to do this:
1) Connect the E220 to your XP PC/Laptop
2) Open the Device Manager (in the Control Panel)
3) Look for the USB Mass Storage Device in the "Universal Serial Bus controllers" Section

If there are more than one USB Mass Storage Devices, right click each one,
select Properties, Details and then "Children"
If it says "Huawei" somewhere inside the Value, you found the right one.

4) Right click on the Mass Storage Device and select "Update Driver Software"
5) Select "Browse my Computer"
6) Select "Let me pick"
7) Uncheck "Show compatible devices"
8 ) Select "(Generic USB Host Controller)" in the Manufacturer Tab
9) Select "USB Composite Device" in the Model Tab
10) Finish installing the Composite Device driver
11) Afterwards, Vista will add another USB Mass Storage Device, and if you are lucky, also 2 "Data Interfaces"
12) If it doesn''t detect the Data Interfaces, disconnect and reconnect your E220.
13) Vista should now detect all the E220s Data Interfaces
14) When asked to insert the disk containing the drivers, choose "I don''t have the disk" - however Windows may also detect those drivers automatically
15) Enter the C:\Program Files\Mobile Partner\Drivers\WinVista folder
16) Repeat Step 14&15 for the second Data Interface
21) Start Mobile Partner and connect

You will need to remove the outgoing SMS limit for your Android phone. We don't provide instructions on doing this with your Android mobile phone, but if you google your Android model number followed by "remove outgoing sms limit" you will receive lots of resources on how to do this.

That's ok, you can purchase a seperate compatible USB modem and plug it into your computer's USB port, you can use the FireText Twitter to screen feature, or Email to TV Screen Feature. Follow all the guides by rolling your mouse over the "Resources" menu item at the top.

Your audience members can use their iPhones to send SMS messages, Twitter Messages and Email Messages to your TV Screens. But the FireText Software cannot use an iPhone as a modem to send and receive sms messages with because of Apple's locks on their SMS application. FireText Administrator can connect directly to Android based phones, and also receive Email, Tweets and SMS messages via USB modem, and Shortcodes. You don't need to hookup at phone to the laptop if you are using the Email, Twitter and Shortcode SMS to TV screen features. The only time you need to hook up a phone to the computer is if you want to use the GSM USB modem, or cell phone connected to the computer via USB cable to send and receive sms messages.
